About exhibition

The sculptural association Resculpture.sk, which has the subtitle Association of Sculptors, is a free group of artists associated on a generational basis, and gradually, younger artists became members. In 2010 – 2011, I co-founded Resculpture.sk (with sculptor Roman Hrčka) as a Civic Association and was its first Vice-President. Academic sculptor Professor Jozef Jankovič initiated and coordinated activities of the association and provided professional advice.

The mission of the association at the time was research in the field of realisations in sculpture in Slovakia (outdoor, indoor sculptures), their charting and protection against developers’ strategies, as well as exhibitions and presentations of activities of individual members or the whole association. After several interesting exhibitions and symposia in 2011 – 2014 and a completed research under the title Sculptures in Bratislava (1945 – 2012) published in a book in 2013, I gradually withdrew from the activities. Over the following years, I invited individual members at two-years’ intervals to participate in a project called the Biennial of Small-Scale Sculpture, which addressed the medium of sculpture from a different perspective. Today, art historian Sabina Jankovičová ArtD. is active in the association. She continues the work started ten years ago and is engaged in research …

The QUO VADIS exhibition is an initiative of the current management of the civic association Resculpture.sk – Jozef Kurinec, Eva Masaryková, Karin Patúcová who began planning the exhibition in 2020 to mark the 10th anniversary of the association (2021). The pandemic isolated the exhibiting artists in their studios, and in recent years they have created many sculptures, which are currently showcased at the exhibition in Senica for the first time. I actively entered the position of a curator only in the phase of selection of works for the exhibition, as the artists were selected in a call to individual members. I am pleased that regional artists are also involved in the project and they will return to the J. Mudroch Gallery in Záhorie in Senica after years.
